I have spent the last twelve years of my life working in IT, going from product support, to unix support, to backup and storage support, to now more of a backup architect.
I am very much a right tool for the right use, I see brand names as signs to denote how intense they have been tested, and vetted. which means some tech companies I take there claims with a grain of salt and some I will give the benefit of the doubt until I can test it. I firmly believe if you are going to tie your reputation to an installation you better know its going to work or your taking a hit for bad architecture and planning.
I also have for many years worked with Solaris and the sun product suite, I have some comments on what I see as the black hole that Solaris and the sparc servers are falling into.
